LAS VEGAS — When Jennifer Rene-Wright and Daniel Kibler first heard the word “Singing Beach” on the radio in 2012, they thought it was just another day at the beach.
But after seeing their local band, the band was already performing.
“The first thing they do is we sing our songs,” Rene Wright says.
The Beach Boys sang in a bar with Rene’s bandmates, and Rene says they got a kick out of the band.
“They were just so fun,” she says.
That’s why she got involved with a local band in Las Vegas.
“I love the Beach Boys and I love what they do,” she said.
The band, called The Beachboys, was started in Las Vegas in the late 1990s and started out performing for local bands.
In 2007, the Beachboys’ first album, The Beachbangers, hit the Billboard 200.
The two-part album, titled The Beachbeats, had sold nearly 12 million copies, making the Beachbearts the most successful rock band in the U.S. at the time.
Now, more than two decades later, the two-piece band is in its 11th studio album, and their latest song, “We Got You,” has been nominated for a Grammy.
“We just got nominated for this year’s Grammy for Best Rock Song,” Rive says.
“It’s really awesome to see.”
For Rene and Daniel, it was also the first time they were doing it as a solo artist.
“When we first started this thing, we were just like, ‘Wow, I can do this,'” Rene said.
“Now it’s our mission to go out and perform as much as we can.”
For Daniel, the journey started in the summer of 2012, when he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
Daniel says that when he found out about the Beachbigs’ mission, he jumped at the chance to get involved.
“At the time, I was living in California and I just wanted to make music and just go to the beach,” he said.
Daniel and Rive both have families and their careers have been pretty quiet, but they still go out in Las Vegas to see their favorite band.
Daniel also had a big idea.
“For me, the idea was that, if I can make a record that’s this amazing and so great, then people will just want to come to the Beach Beats and go, ‘Oh my God, I wanna do this,” Daniel said.
“That’s my goal and that’s what I really want to do,” Rane said.
As a band, The Beats is comprised of the Beach boys and Daniel’s bandmate, Matt Bell, a.k.a.
Matt the Cat.
The music has a distinctive sound and is a mix of rock, country and folk, but the Beach beards have a bit of pop in their voice.
“People have been telling us to write songs, but that’s just not our style,” Rone said.
Matt and Daniel have been doing their own recording sessions for about a year, but Daniel and Matt decided to make their own record.
“What they are doing is totally different,” Rones said.
They were working with local producer Michael Kottke, who had been producing the Beachboy album.
“You know, Matt and I really love each other,” Rine said.
But the Beachbums aren’t just making their own music, they’re trying to get people to go and see their band perform live.
“Our goal is to get this to a lot of people,” Daniel Kinsman said.
So far, the group has sold more than 2 million tickets for their live performances, and have even played in cities around the world.
In February, Rene decided to come on board.
“She is so supportive, and I mean, she’s just amazing,” Daniel says.
For Rieen, it wasn’t long after that she was invited to the band’s Las Vegas recording studio to be a producer on the album.
But she and Matt were a little nervous about the job, because the Beach Band had never been to a studio before.
“As soon as we started working with the studio, we realized it’s something that we really wanted to do, so it was really important for us to know it was something we wanted to go for,” Rieens said.
For Matt, the experience has been a blessing.
“Every time I go to Vegas, I just think about all the good things we can do there,” he says.
They plan to perform live at the Beach Beach Beachfest in August and have a tour this summer, and they also have plans for a full-length studio album.
Riees goal is for people to be able to come see them live
