LOS ANGELES — A man is in custody after he stabbed his 3-month-old son in the head with a kitchen knife and then fled the scene, authorities said.

The stabbing happened in the 9000 block of North Elgin Avenue around 10:30 a.m.

Tuesday, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Jason Silva said.

The boy was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, he said.

An arrest warrant was issued for 28-year-old Joshua James Brown, who is wanted on a felony count of attempted murder and is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail.

He is due in court Thursday.

The toddler’s father was inside the home when the incident occurred, Silva said, and called 911 to report the incident.

The child was unharmed, Silva added.
