Veronica Rocha is a woman whose story has shaped the way we see and think about women and women’s empowerment in Brazil.

Born in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Veronica’s father was a teacher, and she spent her childhood in a house full of toys, books and dolls.

“I was a very shy child,” she told Al Jazeera.

“But the only reason I was shy was because I didn’t know that my mother would let me play with dolls and toys.”

In 2010, Verónica started to write songs, and in 2011 she was invited to a recording session in Brazil with an alternative pop group, Kaya da Luz.

“It was very difficult for me because I had never had the opportunity to do something like this,” she said.

“But I was really lucky because I was invited by the producers of the band to record with them.”

The recordings came to an end after only two shows, but Verónicas journey into the music business took off.

“They gave me a platform to play, to be heard, to connect with people,” she explained.

“I went to schools and I taught myself to write.

Then, I moved to Los Angeles, and I recorded and recorded again.”

When she first started recording in Los Angeles she was given no budget for her projects, and it was just for a few months.

“For a few years I was living on $30 a day, so that was not enough to cover my expenses, but I started to make money.

I made a lot of money, but it was not really enough to sustain me.”

Then in 2015, I realised that the record industry was not that big in Brazil and that there were so many artists and artists were doing really well.

I realised I had to give back.

“She decided to start a recording studio.”

The idea was to work with local artists and give them an opportunity to be recognised and get their music noticed,” she recalled.”

So I bought a recording booth, a small studio, a studio for my own artists, and that’s how I got started.

“And that’s where Verónicans journey began.”

People were really interested in the music, and people were interested in our voice. “

Now we are the biggest independent record label in the country.”

People were really interested in the music, and people were interested in our voice.

They were really surprised that I am doing this, because I’m a singer.

“In the past two years, the record label has sold more than 300,000 albums and recorded more than 20,000 songs.

It has also produced three Juno Awards and has been nominated for a Grammy award, and Verónias first album, a collaboration with rapper and actress, Luiza da Silva, has been certified platinum in the US.”

That’s my big goal, to keep going with my work, keep doing it, and have more success,” she stated.”

To reach the next level, we are looking at our future.

“The journey to becoming a full-time producer and recording artist began in January, 2016, when she met Luiza.”

Luiza was my first artist, and when I first met her I had no idea how to work.

She has a lot more experience than me,” she noted.”

She is the biggest artist that I’ve met, so she has a huge influence.

So, I went and met Luiz.””

The pair bonded quickly, and on a whim they started working together on a record together. “

After that, I wanted to do more than just record, I just wanted to work and make money.”

The pair bonded quickly, and on a whim they started working together on a record together.

“She was so passionate, and then when I heard her voice I knew I had found the right person,” she remembered.

“When she sang in front of a camera, she sounded so much more than a singer, she was so beautiful, she sang so much, and her voice was so strong.”

And, she added, “I am really happy that we have been able to collaborate.”

As she is on the road now, she has started working with artists from all over the world, including Madonna and Justin Bieber.

“One of the most difficult things for me is that I do not know if I can continue to do my job in this business.

I have not had any money to make my living for the last four years, and now I have to pay my bills,” she revealed.”

And she has no idea where her next project is going to take her. “

And it’s very hard to see my future when I don`t have any money.”

And she has no idea where her next project is going to take her.

“There are so many things I need to do to keep myself motivated, but
